The Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Studies has released a new report entitled “Assessing the Impacts of the U.S.–Israeli War Against Iran on Food Security.” The report examines the consequences of the war, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and disruptions in energy, fertilizer, and maritime transport markets on global and regional food systems, with a particular focus on the Arab region as one of the world's most food-import-dependent regions.

The International Labour Conference, at its 114th Session held in Geneva in June 2026, adopted a new Convention on Decent Work in the Platform Economy, marking the first international instrument of its kind aimed at regulating working conditions in the platform economy and safeguarding the fundamental rights of digital platform workers.

Jordanian Labor Watch has warned that a range of accumulated economic and social indicators observed in Jordan over recent years suggest a significant increase in child labor compared to the levels documented by the last comprehensive national field survey conducted in 2016. The organization stressed that continued reliance on data that is nearly a decade old undermines efforts to accurately understand the true scale of the phenomenon and limits the effectiveness of policies and programs design

Jordan Labor Watch stated that the government's decision to increase the salaries of public sector employees and civilian and military pensioners earning less than JOD 600 per month by JOD 30 monthly represents a positive and important step in the right direction. The organization noted that the measure comes after many years of wage stagnation, during a period marked by steadily rising living costs and a decline in the purchasing power of a large segment of citizens.
