Labor Watch - Jordanian teachers are carrying on their strike for the third week in a row, since no agreement with the government on the 50% bonus had been reached.
The Vice-President of the Teachers Association, Dr. Nasser Nawasrah, said in a statement on the Jordan Teachers Association Facebook page: "The government did not apologize to the teachers for the assaults they suffered during their attempt to sit on the Fourth Circle at the beginning of this month, nor it did recognize the 50% allowance demanded by the teachers. This is the problem."
Nawasrah pointed out that there are calls and letters from the Education directors to the teachers and headmasters including threats and intimidations from the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education.
He also called on teachers to commit to the strike, stating that the Council of the Union will take responsibility for the strike.
