Labor Watch - On Sunday, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions organized a sit-in in front of the House of Representatives to reject amendments of the Labor Law, which is currently being considered by parliament.

The participants in the sit-in called on the House of Representatives to reject the current amendments and make new amendments that preserve labor rights.
The Federation of Independent Trade Unions issued a statement in which it considered the amendments currently pending before Parliament as restricting freedom of trade union organization. In its statement, the Federation called for the repeal of Article 98 of the Jordanian Labor Law, which includes restrictions on the right of workers to form and join trade unions and to grant the full right to workers in establishing their unions.
The sit-in coincided with the House of Representatives session that was held to discuss the general budget.
