Labor Watch - On Monday, Dozens of unemployed people from the areas around Zaatari camp in Mafraq governorate staged a sit-in near the camp demanding jobs for them.
Zaatari triangle witnessed the presence of more than 100 unemployed of university graduates and community colleges who were not fortunate enough to find jobs in Zaatari camp and international organizations inside the camp.
Social activist Omar al-Khalidi said the protesters were demanding a fair sharing of jobs after the increasing in the number of unemployed people due to Syrian asylum and the presence of the camp.
The mayor of al-Zaatari municipality, Mohammed al-Khalidi, the mayor of Umm al-Jamal Hassan al-Raheiba, number of officials and dignitaries of Al- Zaatari town, Al-Manshiyyah and Al-Fawa’arah attended the sit-in to talk with the protesters and convey their demands to the responsible persons.
Umm Al-Gammal Mayor Hassan Al-Reheiba said in a press statement that "Al- Zaatari, Umm Al-Jammal and Mafraq governorate generally are the most affected among the regions of the Kingdom due to the Syrian asylum, and It is necessary to allocate a proportion of the youth of Al-Mafraq governorate to recruitment in the organizations that working in the affairs of refugees."
