Jordan: Labor Court decision emphasizes demands of workers at Container Terminal
Labor Watch -  Labor Court issued a verdict Monday emphasizing that workers’ demands presented by the trade union committee of workers at the Container Terminal in Aqaba port were genuine and ought to be carried out by the company according to Omar Alsharari, press speaker of the trade union committee of workers in the company.

Alsharari explained that the court had abolished decision of the company regarding the eight hours working system and ordered the return to previously adopted shifts system.

Alsharari added that the court endorsed all terms of the agreement by which the strike of workers at the Container Terminal in Aqaba port had ended four months ago.

It is worth mentioning though, that the trade union committee carried out a strike in October this year which lasted for seven consecutive days demanding a set of labor and administrative entitlements such as demanding a fifteenth month salary, increase of housing allowance by JOD 25.000 to reach JOD 200.000, adjust the end-of-service award from 28 to 36 months, continuity of health insurance after end-of-service, as well as acknowledgement of scholarships for workers’ children.
