Elementary Education Graduates Pause Protest as Ministry Promises Resolution
Jordan Labor Watch -
Unemployed graduates of Elementary Education have temporarily halted their protest, including the planned sit-in scheduled to commence last Sunday. This decision comes in response to the Ministry of Education's commitment to addressing their issues.

According to their statement to Jordan Labor Watch, during their demonstration in front of the ministry building, the Minister of Education personally requested a meeting to listen to their concerns. The graduates informed Jordanian Labor Watch that the minister pledged to resolve their problems within three days. As a result, they have suspended their sit-in until their demands are met.

However, the teachers have made it clear that if the minister fails to fulfill his promise, they will escalate their actions. They emphasize their skepticism due to past experiences of receiving similar assurances that ultimately led to dead ends.

The demands put forth by the group of 1,200 graduates from various governorates include the reopening of the "Elementary Education" specialty and the provision of employment opportunities within it. They express particular concern over the decision by the civil service bureau to restrict this specialty exclusively to females.
