Labor Watch - The Unemployment Rate reached (19.0%) during the fourth quarter of 2019; representing an increase by 0.3 percentage points compared to the fourth quarter of 2018.
The Unemployment Rate for males reached (17.7% ) during the fourth quarter of 2019 against (24.1%) for females. Therefore, the Unemployment Rate increased by 0.8 percentage points for males and by 1.6 percentage points for females compared to the fourth quarter 2018.
The report also shows that the Unemployment Rate is higher by 22.4% among the university degree holders (Bachelor degree and higher, divided by labor force for the same educational level) compared with the other educational levels.
The report also indicates that 50.7% of the Unemployed are secondary certificate holders or higher, and that 49.3% have less than secondary school qualifications. The percentage of unemployment among male with bachelor degrees or higher was 25.4% against 80.2% for females, which varies according to educational level and sex.
The highest rate of Unemployment was recorded within the age group 15-19 and 20-24 years, registering 48.3% and 39.7% respectively.
The highest Rate of Unemployment was recorded in Zarqa at 23.4% and the lowest rate was recorded in Karak Governorate at 12.0%.
