Responses to the demands of the dismissed workers from Lafarge
Labor Watch - On Monday evening, the end of the crisis of the workers dismissed from the Jordanian cement company "Lafarge" was announced  after reaching an agreement with the company's management.
The agreement stipulated that the company will pay 20 million dinars in compensation to the 200 workers, it will pay to each worker one month's salary and 80 percent of the monthly salary for each year of service, it would guarantee a life insurance - from a minimum of 50,000 dinars to a maximum of 150,000 dinars per worker according to years of service -, while the first instalment of the compensation will be in January 2020 and the second one in August 2020.
The chairman of the General Union of Construction Workers, Mahmoud Al-Hiari, said that the demands of Lafarge employees were met after joint efforts and coordination with the Minister of Labor in the previous days, successfully reaching a compromise that satisfies all parties and resulting in the signing of a labor agreement.
