UNRWA employees' strike ends after salaries increase
Labor Watch - The staff of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) decided to end the strike after agreeing to increase the salaries of the employees from 70 to 100 dinars from the 1st of January 2020.
The agreement reached after negotiations between the staff unions and the UNRWA administration mediated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates includes the following points:
1.Granting all employees of the grade from 2 to 8 the amount of 100 dinars starting on the 1st of January 2020.
2.Granting all employees of the grade from 9 to 20 - including health sectors and microfinance fund - the amount of 70 dinars, starting from 01/01/2020.
3.Conducting immediately a comprehensive salary survey, the results of which should be announced within four weeks.
4.For this matter, Unions have the right to invite a survey expert and the survey will be conducted with the participation of the Department of Palestinian Affairs and the Staff Unions.
5.The salary survey will be conducted according to the methodology of the 2016 survey, including all the elements taken into consideration in the previous survey for the staff unions that participated in it.
6.Palestinian Affairs Department will begin negotiations with UNRWA to improve services, fill the vacancies and increase posts in education, health and sanitary sectors.
