Employees in Jordan Institution for Standards and Metrology are demanding fairness
Labor Watch - Employees of the Standards and Metrology Institution in the Customs Centers complained of injustice besides financial and administrative discrimination with their colleagues in customs centers and border crossings by the Customs Department.
They said that Customs officers receive 90% of the basic salary for customs duties instead of overtime, while the employees of the Standards and Metrology Institution receive 65% in addition, the minimum amount of customs officers as allowance of work on Saturdays is 75 dinars per month, while the employee of the Standards and Metrology Institution receives 40 dinars per month,  JD10 for every Saturday.
The employees added that the Customs Department provides its employees with transportation to and from the workplace without providing the employees of the other departments. They also pointed out that "the housing and the flexible work of customs employees at the border crossings, contrary to the Standards and Metrology Institution staff which provides them a small housing allowance and just in Aqaba."
