Labor Watch - Dozens of faculty members at Yarmouk University on Monday held a protest in front of the university's headquarters to protest against the reduction of their allocations from the proceeds of the parallel education program.
The participants called the university administration to drop this decision before the start of the next semester "to avoid any other escalating steps."
They stressed that they do not retreat from their demands, pointing out that the pretexts related to the low returns of the program and the distribution of them are based on ratios for different purposes require that the control of expenditure should not be at the expense of their incomes, which they used during the past years although they have several obligations built on them.
In turn, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, Dr. Khalid Al-Omari met with the protest participants. He pointed out that the board has maintained the percentage as it is 43%, but the expansion of the appointments by the university increased the number of beneficiaries.
