96 municipalities are unable to pay bonuses and incentives to the employees
Labor Watch - The heads of municipalities revealed that 96 out of 100 of municipalities could not pay bonuses and incentives to their employees without the approval of the Council of Ministers and amend the legislations, warning against implicating the municipalities in any decision that will not be able to bear its consequences.
During their meeting with the Minister of Municipalities Affairs, Eng. Waleed Al-Masri, in the presence of the Speaker of the House of Representatives to discuss the demands of workers in the municipalities that their response to the demands of workers in these municipalities is linked to the approval of the Council of Ministers to make the necessary amendments.
The mayor of the Greater Irbid municipality, Engineer Hussein Bani Hani, said: "The mayors, during their meeting, stressed that the response to these demands requires the approval of the Council of Ministers to amend the regulations, and municipality will not be able to pay any allowance or bonus to employees without the approval of the Council of Ministers and amend the legislations.
"The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Eng. Atef Tarawneh, asked the mayors for solutions to the workers' demands.", Bani Hani added in a press statement.
He pointed out that the mayors unanimously agreed that the solution is up only to the ministry and the Council of Ministers, who are able to solve the financial problems of the municipalities to enable the implementation of the demands, pointing out that some demands need two years to be achieved.
