The strike of municipal workers continues for the fifth day
Labor Watch - On Sunday, municipal workers continued their strike of protest against the failure to respond to their demands.

"The strike continues in all the municipalities of the Kingdom, including the municipality of Irbid until all the demands are met," the head of the Independent Trade Unions Federation for Workers in Jordan Municipalities, Ahmad al-Saadi, told the Labor Watch, adding that the Ministry of Municipalities is the reason for continuing the strike and disrupting people's interests.
Al-Saadi said that the response of the municipal councils to the demands of the protestors is not very influential, because many of the demands need to "amend the regulations and the approval of the Ministry of Municipalities."

Al-Saadi pointed out that the Federation is waiting for the results from the meeting, which will be held on Tuesday in the House of Representatives, which includes representatives of workers and the Committee of Labor and Social Development Parliamentary and Administrative Committee to discuss the demands of workers in the municipalities.

Municipalities workers demand to increase a third of the total salary for all municipal employees just a the staff of the Greater Amman Municipality, approve the text of the Provident Fund, activate of the Housing and Social Solidarity Fund, Install daily laborers, get a day off on Saturday as the rest of the employees of other institutions as well as pay the institution's bonus stipulated in the civil service system and re-examination of the incentives and rewards provisions in addition to establish a public safety department in all municipalities, increasing the salary scale and the providing university seats for the children of municipal workers.
