Labor Watch - The head of the Jordan Nurses Council, Khalid Rabab'a, said that the union would not accept to exploit the nurses in the private sector, calling for a minimum wage for nurses in the private sector.
Rabab'a said during a meeting with private sector nursing directors that many nurses in the private sector receive low wages despite of the long hours of working and suffer from late payment of salaries, which contradicts their professional, functional and legal rights.
Rababah called for the need to establishing a minimum wage for nurses in the private sector. He also called for the appointment of Jordanian nurses and the cessation of the recruitment of foreign nurses.
For their part, the directors of nursing of the Civil Service Bureau requested for the distribution of appointments of nurses in the public sector at intervals of the year to avoid confusion or lack of nursing staff in private hospitals.
