Labor Watch - The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of the Municipalities of Jordan called in a letter to the Minister of Municipal Affairs to improve the working conditions of municipalities’ workers.
In its letter, the Federation called for the approval of the Provident Fund, which provides for the end of service benefits according to the proposal of the draft system sent to the municipalities by the ministry, activating the housing and social solidarity fund, stabilize the daily workers and demanding to make the Saturday an official holiday as the rest of the institutions, and pay the bonuses provided by Civil Service System that range from 20 - 60 %, reconsider the provisions of incentives and bonuses issued by the ministry besides standardize the transportation allowance by 20 dinars, in addition to the creation of a clear job description card, as well as the placement of staff in the manning table, and the establishment of a public safety department in all municipalities and put it on the organizational structure.
The issued letter, which the Labor Watch got a copy of it, said that municipalities’ workers have long suffered inequalities in the governmental institutions, pointing out the need to implement these rights in the near future, stressing their right to resort to all means authorized by Jordanian laws and international conventions if these demands are not taken into consideration.
