Labor Watch - The workers of the Arab Company for White Cement Industry continued the sit-in they have staged, which began on Sunday protesting against the decision of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to allow the import of cement with low prices.
The workers said that importing cement at lower prices than the cost of its production led to a decline in the financial situation of the company and the irregularity in receipt of salaries. The workers added that they are worried about the possibility to dispense with a number of them by the company if the situation continues as it is.
The workers are waiting for the outcomes of the meeting, which will be held next Sunday between the company's administration and the minister of industry and trade to discuss the import of cement issue, despite the surplus of the local product.
