Large-scale strike rejected the new income-tax law
Labor watch - Public and private sector employees on Wednesday launched the first large-scale labor strike called by the Professional Associations to reject the amended new income-tax law.
Since 9:00 am, many public and private sector employees, shop owners, trade unionists, parties, civil society organizations, factory workers, companies and employees of ministries and government departments have begun to strike in protest against the new taxation law, which will cause great harm to citizens, companies and all sectors.
The Professional Associations called for a strike after Prime Minister Hani al-Mulqi refused to withdraw the new taxation law, which the citizens see it as it targeting their pockets, while the government defends it and says that it will not reach the largest segment of Jordanian citizens.
